Panchkula, February 17: Ms. Aparna Bhardwaj, Secretary of the ADR Centre, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), has announced that old traffic challans from the years 2021, 2022, and 2023, which were returned by the Virtual Court, will be considered for disposal in the upcoming National Lok Adalat on 8th March 2025. The Lok Adalat will be conducted at the District Courts Complex, Panchkula, providing citizens an opportunity to settle their pending challans in a hassle-free manner.
Procedure for Disposing of Pending Challans
Ms. Bhardwaj emphasized that individuals looking to resolve their challans must follow a structured process:
- Visit the Challaning Branch at Sector 12, Panchkula – Applicants must first visit this branch to obtain a stamped performa, which is mandatory for further processing.
- Submit the Stamped Performa at District Courts, Panchkula – Only after submitting this document will their challans be considered for disposal on the day of the Lok Adalat.
Important Guidelines for Citizens
During a meeting held today, the Traffic In-charge highlighted that many individuals bring printouts of their challans from unofficial sources, which are not valid. Only stamped printouts issued by the Challaning Branch at Sector 12 will be accepted. Citizens are urged to follow this requirement strictly to avoid any inconvenience.
Additionally, a significant challenge in disposing of old challans is that many offenders have changed their addresses and phone numbers over time, making it difficult to contact them. In light of this, citizens are requested to visit the Challaning Branch at the earliest to verify their pending challans and complete the necessary formalities.
Benefits of Resolving Challans through Lok Adalat
Ms. Bhardwaj emphasized that the National Lok Adalat is an effective platform for quick and amicable dispute resolution. Some key advantages include:
✅ Hassle-Free Process – No lengthy legal proceedings, ensuring a smooth experience.
✅ One-Day Disposal – All challans will be settled on the same day.
✅ Legal Closure – Once a challan is resolved, no further action will be taken against the offender.
