Chandigarh, February 2025 – The Centre of Excellence in HIV Care at PGIMER, Chandigarh, successfully organized a Continued Medical Education (CME) Program, “HIV Update 2025,” at the Advanced Pediatric Centre, PGIMER. The program aimed to update resident doctors, nurses, and healthcare staff on the latest advancements in HIV diagnosis, treatment, and management. The event saw the participation of over 230 professionals from PGIMER, General Hospital–Sector 16, GMC-32, and various private hospitals across the Tricity.
The scientific sessions featured eminent speakers who provided valuable insights into key aspects of HIV care. The program commenced with a talk by Dr. Seema Chhabra on HIV testing. This was followed by a session on ART initiation and monitoring by Dr. Ravinder Kaur Sachdeva, who emphasized the importance of strict adherence to ART in achieving an undetectable viral load. Prof. Aman Sharma elaborated on post-exposure prophylaxis, highlighting its critical role in HIV prevention.
Additional significant sessions included:
- Pulmonary Infections in HIV – Dr. Shankar Naidu addressed the management of TB, pneumonia, and other lung infections in HIV, underscoring the importance of TB preventive medicine.
- Skin Infections in HIV – Dr. Tarun Narang discussed various dermatological manifestations of HIV and the treatment of resistant fungal infections in advanced cases.
- CNS Infections in HIV – Prof. Manish Modi provided expertise on managing neurological complications in HIV patients.
Distinguished chairpersons from diverse medical disciplines facilitated engaging discussions throughout the sessions, enriching the learning experience for attendees.
