Dehradun, February 14, 2025 – The 38th National Games of India, held across various venues in Uttarakhand from January 28 to February 14, concluded on a grand note with a spectacular closing ceremony. The event witnessed an exceptional display of athleticism, dedication, and sportsmanship from participants across the country.
Chandigarh finished 21st in the overall National Games medal tally with a total of 19 medals. The Services Control Board topped the medal tally, followed by Maharashtra in second place and Haryana in third.
Speaking to the media, Chandigarh’s Chef de Mission, Rajiv Sharma, expressed pride in the city’s athletes, who secured four gold medals, two silver, and three bronze in boxing. In wrestling, Chandigarh athletes won one silver and three bronze medals. The city also claimed two medals in taekwondo (one gold, one silver), a gold and a bronze in judo, a silver and a bronze in wushu, one gold medal in weightlifting, and another gold in yogasana. Additionally, Chandigarh bagged a silver in kabaddi and a bronze in fencing.

Dr. Anmol Rattan Sidhu, President of the Chandigarh Olympic Association (COA), senior advocate, and former Advocate General of Punjab, made a special visit to Dehradun to boost the morale of Chandigarh players and officials.
Chandigarh’s Chef de Mission Rajiv Sharma, who also serves as the Honorary Secretary of the Chandigarh Rowing Association, met with Dr. P.T. Usha, President of the Indian Olympic Association and Rajya Sabha member, to discuss the future development of sports in Chandigarh.
N.S. Thakur, Secretary General of the Chandigarh Olympic Association, congratulated the medal winners and expressed satisfaction with Chandigarh’s successful participation in the 38th National Games. Dr. Anmol Rattan Sidhu announced that the COA will soon honor the National Games medal winners along with their coaches in a special felicitation ceremony.
