Chandigarh, 21 February : Panjab University, Chandigarh, observed Sankalp Diwas today, marking the anniversary of the historic resolution passed by the Indian Parliament on 22 February 1994. The resolution reaffirmed India’s unwavering commitment to its territorial integrity and the reclamation of occupied territories.
The event, organized by various PU departments in association with the Jammu Kashmir Study Centre, saw enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and staff. Participants took a solemn pledge to uphold the unity, sovereignty, and integrity of India.

Highlighting the historical and geopolitical significance of the 1994 resolution, students pledged to remain steadfast in their commitment to national unity and contribute toward a strong and self-reliant India.
The programme also featured the screening of a powerful documentary that sensitized students about the illegal occupation of Indian territories in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh by Pakistan and China. The documentary included moving narratives and life experiences of people displaced from regions such as Mirpur, Gilgit, and Baltistan, shedding light on the human rights violations faced by those affected.
Reflecting the patriotic spirit of the occasion, students shared their thoughts on the importance of safeguarding the nation’s territorial rights and the continued relevance of the 1994 parliamentary resolution.
