Amritsar November 10, 2021: Stanford University, together with the publishing house Elsevier and SciTech Strategies, has created a ranking of 2% of the best scientists in the world in 2021. There are around 13 scientists from Guru Nanak Dev University who are included in this prestigious ranking of the most productive scientists in science in the world till date. The top 2% list contains (overall and subject wise ranking) the names of scientists from around the world whose publications are most often cited by other authors as one of the criteria. The list includes nearly around 1,90,000 scientists throughout the world.
Among the scientists from Guru Nanak Dev University, Dr. Narpinder Singh, Department of Food Science and Technology of the university is at the top in the list with a world rank of 6373. It is further added that recently Indian National Academy of Sciences (INSA) on October 26, 2021 also decided to confer Professor Krishna Sahai Bilgrami Memorial Medal in Agricultural Sciences on him.
Dr. Singh is internationally renowned for his research in Food Science and Technology has been conferred with many National awards such as The Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Award by Indian Council of Agricultural Research and J.C. Bose National Fellowship awarded by Department of Science and Technology, Govt of India. He is also fellow of Cereals & Grain Association (Formerly Association of Cereal Chemists International), National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Indian National Science Academy, National Academy of Sciences, India, Association of Food Scientists and Technologist India. Dr Singh’s overall ranking including all the scientist in India is 32 out of 3352 Indian scientists ranked in 2% list of world.
Dr Singh is also placed at first position in agriculture field out of 87 Indian scientists while both Dr. Amritpal Kaur and Dr. Maninder Kaur from Department of Food Science and Technology, of the university are placed at 25 and 44 positions. Dr. Vandana Bhalla, Department of Chemistry and Dr. Amritpal Kaur, Department of Food Science and Technology haveoverall world ranking at 78,810 and 80,757, respectively.
