21st November, Sunday: 27 Juniors aged between 6 – 15 years received participation certificates in the various EGTF Junior Golf Coaching Programmes conducted at the Chandigarh Golf Club Academy between July – November 2010.
Birinder Singh Gill, President of Chandigarh Golf Club said “We are proud to have launched the Junior Golf Mission 2016. In 2010 five EGTF Junior Golf Coaching Programmes have been conducted and this number will be increased to seven in 2011”. BS Gill added “I congratulate all the children and parents on their diligence and dedication displayed while attending the EGTF Junior Golf Coaching Programmes and we at Chandigarh Golf Club will continue to provide the youth of the Tricity with the resources necessary to assist them reach their highest potential in golf. Junior golfers are the future of our club and our country and the EGTF Junior Programmes are a commitment to youth empowerment through sport. The first EGTF Junior Golf Coaching Programme of 2011 will commence on 19th March.”
At the certificate distribution ceremony, Ajay Gujral, EGTF certified coach and Jt. Director of the Chandigarh Golf Club Academy urged the young budding golfers to continue to work towards the basic objectives that have been set in the EGTF Junior Programmes and encouraged them to aim at reaching the highest level in golf. Gujral said “The EGTF and Chandigarh Golf Club understand the importance of affording our youth the opportunities to practice a disciplined sport that promotes integrity, tenacity and determination. I take this opportunity to thank the Management of Chandigarh Golf Club for providing the junior golfers with the necessary infrastructure to build their game. I also thank the junior golfers who took part in the various EGTF Junior Programmes in 2010 and look forward to teaching youngsters in more such camps in 2011”.
Capt GS Ghuman, Chairman Tournaments & Finance added “We have already conducted two junior golf tournaments of the Junior Golf Mission 2016 with three more to be conducted by April 2011. The next junior golf tournament is scheduled to take place on 20th December 2010”.
GS Sandhu, Honorary Secretary of Chandigarh Golf Club had a message for the budding golfers and their parents “Make use of all that was taught to you during the time you spent in the EGTF Junior Programmes, as you forge towards qualifying for the 2016 Olympics and making all of us proud at the club”.
