The India Post, Chandigarh, 10th February, 2009 : Panjab University is holding Chandigarh Science Congress from 26th-28 February and having an open house for the society all these days.February 12th being the 2nd Centenary of great Natural Historia, Geologist turned biologist, however must be commemorated suitably.
In a joint Natural History Outreach venture, departments of Anthropology, Botany, Geology and Zoology invite you all to their departments to have a feeling of Charles Darwin and the methods and philosophy of sciences dealing with natural history.
We initiate our proceedings at 10.30 sharp. You may walk in as and when you are free.In a formal gathering in seminar room of Geology Department, the students of natural history invite you all for collectively trying to recapture the times and spirit of Charles Darwin.
In true environmental spirit no invitation cards are being sent and we depend on word of mouth and friends of Panjab University and lovers of Natural History to send the news about this event.Our Computer Science Director and DPR would kindly oblige by publicising the commemoration through media and Internet.
Our Professor I S Dua of Botany would be away to western India receiving honours for his passion and dedication to Darwin. Our Dean Science Faculty Prof Amrik Ahluwalia would be the guest of honour.
We screen a small film of Geological Society of America Colorado featuring man’s legacy to the planet and Earth’s legacy to man followed by a short film SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST.
