Manoj Godara, Chandigarh, 30th October 2010: NSS UNITS of Dev Samaj College of Education, Sector 36 B, Chandigarh organized Valedictory Function of Vigilance Awareness Week observed from 25th October to 31st October, 2010, in collaboration with Hindustan Petroleum.
The function started with the administration of Vigilance Pledge undertaken by the staff and volunteers by Dr. Jyoti Khanna, Principal of the College. The Pledge stated “We, the Public Servants of India do hereby solemnly pledge that we shall continuously strive to bring about integrity and transparency in all spheres of our activities. We also pledge that we shall work unstintingly for eradication of corruption in all spheres of life and remain vigilant and work toward the growth and reputation of our organization. Through our collective efforts, we shall bring pride to our organization and provide value based service to our countrymen. We shall do our duty consciously and act without fear or favour.”
The chief guest Sh. Manoj.K Sharma, Chief Manager, Vigilance in Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. In his address to the students cited two reasons that breed corruption – Delays and Personal Contact.
He stated e-governance as potent tool to counter corruption in the present society as it significantly brings about transparency and accountability .During the week, Essay Writing and Quiz Competitions
on themes like ‘Tools for Generating Awareness against Corruption” “Society’s Acceptance of Corruption and How to change Perception”, “ On this Earth There’s Enough for Everybody’s Need but Not for Their Greed” An Open Quiz on Vigilance Awareness was organized on the occasion.
The 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners of Essay Writing were Neha Sharma, Annapurna sahu and Sonia Taneja, respectively. While the Consolation prize was given to Rubina.
