Barinder Saluja, Chandigarh ,July 14 : The man who posed as the political adviser to the Prime Minister(wearing Green Pagri in Picture), was arrested by the Jammu and Kashmir Police, had earlier be fooled the Mohali & Amritsar police, which provided him a security cover. The Kharar Congress MLA, Balbir Singh Sidhu(Wearing Blue Pagri in Picture), was also taken for a ride as he honoured the impostor during his visit to the town three days back.
A resident of Delhi, Manmohan Singh came to Mohali on July 11 escorted by a police Gypsy amid security arrangements to meet a cloth merchant, RK Goyal. He was accompanied by a number of people and they reached Phase III B2 in four cars.
Kharar MLA Balbir Singh Sidhu also reached the venue to welcome the impostor with a bouquet. A function was organised where Manmohan addressed the gathering and later spoke to media persons as well. He praised the Prime Minister and talked about his future plans.
The cloth merchant, RK Goyal, said that Narinder Sharma, who was a relative of his former tenant, had rung him up from Delhi saying that the political adviser to the Prime Minister was on a tour of Punjab and J&K. On his way, he would stop in Mohali and asked him to arrange a small function in this regard. Goyal said he then informed the local MLA about the visit of the political adviser.
The additional SHO of the Matour police station had also come to check about the arrangements being made for the visit of Manmohan. The Mohali police also provided a security cover to the impostor.
SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar told The Tribune today that the police had received a fax from the office of the ADGP (Security) to provide an armed escort to Manmohan Singh. Compliance of the orders of the senior official had to be done. However, a letter had now been written to the office of the ADGP to find out who had sent directions in this regard.
The MLA, however, said that since he was told that the political adviser to the Primer Minister was coming to Mohali, it was his duty to welcome him. He had presented him a bouquet as a mark of respect. As Manmohan was escorted by a police Gypsy, nobody suspected him to be an impostor.
Manmohan Singh was rounded off by J&K police after Amritsar S.P. felt suspicious about the behaviour of the so Called advisor and reported to DC K.S Pannu, who back tracked the fax received by the ADGP office. He called up the brother of PM Manmoham Singh, Mr. Sujit Singh Kohli, who lives in Amritsar, and was told that there is no person by the name of Manmohan Singh holding the seat of Political advisor, whatsoever, by any means in the PM Office. By that time impostor had already left the Punjab Jurisdiction and when contacted J&K police was arrested while coming back from Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine after visiting the temple under VVVIP treatment.
Previously, Punjab Police ADGP office called up the fone numbers written on the PMO faxed letter head, and was confirmed that PM’s Political Advisor by the Name of Manmohan Singh was visiting the states of Punjab & J&K and he is under the threat by Hizbul Mujahedeen and Babbar Khalsa International terrorist groups. So keeping this in view, he should be given full security, safe passage and all sort of help needed by him.
Five whole years in his life he has been posing and be fooling the public in the Capital, New Delhi, as Advisor to PM which he never was. The story of the man who pretended as Prime Minister’s Advisor began in the dingy lanes of Fateh Nagar in west Delhi. When contacted his neighbours they said, ” Man with Red Beacon white Ambassador car could not be doubted. We only used to approach him when his security cars and security men used to block their house drive ways. He claimed to be a politician and we had no reason to doubt him”, said his next door neighbour.
