UGC GRANTS FOR GCG-42

Navneet Kaur , 7 June : Govt. College for Girls, sector – 42, Chandigarh received financial assistance from UGC, New Delhi to the tune of Rs. Twenty Five Lacs under different schemes. Principal Dr Nindru Bal said UGC assistance  will add new academic dimension to this college in terms of quality & infrastructure and would go a long way in providing new academic outlook to the college at the national level . The UGC has sanctioned grant of Rs. 4.60 Lac under Capacity Building for Women managers in Higher Education for holding the residential Sensitization Motivation workshop. . Govt. College for Girls, sector– 42, has also received financial assistance as Seed Money for Rs 7.00  Lac  for the introduction of course in the subject of Event Management  under Career Oriented Programmes of UGC,New Delhi. .  According to Dr. Dalip Kumar, Co-coordinator UGC Programmes.  Govt. College for Girls, Sector -42, Chandigarh is the only city Govt. College selected for this course by UGC under career oriented programme.  The main objective of the scheme is to introduce career and market – oriented, skill enhancing career oriented courses that have utility for job, self employment and    empowerment of the students.  At the end of three years, the students will be equipped with a certificate / Diploma / Advanced Diploma in an add – on Orientation Course along with a conventional degree in Science / Arts/ Commerce. The college also received financial assistance for sum of RS. 8.60 Lac under development scheme of XI Plan .and Rs. 5.OO Lac for major research project form UGC.
