Chandigarh , October 19- The Haryana Government has identified protection homes or centers to give facilities of boarding and lodging to secure life and liberty of new wedded couples at the district level. These homes or centers will provide shelter and security to the couples, who enter into wedlock against the wishes of their parents because of which there is apprehension of honour killing.
The Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary of Home Department of the Government of Haryana has sent communiqué to the Director General of Police Panchkula, Commissioners of Police at Faridabad and Gurgaon, all Deputy Commissioners and all Superintendent of Police in the state in this regard and a list of protection homes identified in each district have been supplied to them. The protection home for such couples in Gurgaon district will be in the hostel of state council for education research and training (SCERT) where the newly wedded couples who apprehend honour killing by their relatives would be kept and they will be provided boarding and lodging facilities with adequate security.
Referring to the letter received from the Home Department, an official spokesman stated that listed the protection homes identified in other district of the state. He said that in Ambala, the protection home will be in government quarter number 137 of Ambala Police lines, where as in Karnal this facility would be provided in flat number 38 of Karnal Police Lines. In Sonepat also, the protection home will be in police lines. In panipat district, the protection home will be in quarter number 15 of Panipat Police lines and in Palwal, such home for newly wedded couples will be in Government Police quarter at sadar police station Palwal.
He said that in Panchkula, the facility of protection home will be in quarter number 53A of Panchkula Police lines where as in Jhajjar this facility would be provided in a quarter of Jhajjar Police lines. Similarly, in Kurukshetra district, the Protection home would be set up in quarter number 70D of Kurukshetra Police lines where as in Jind district, this facility would be provided in the upper portion of newly constructed hostel of Jail Department. In Bhiwani district also the protection home will be set up in quarter number 124 of new police colony at Bhiwani police lines. Going by the list provided by the home department, out of 21 districts, the facility of protection homes in 10 districts of the state will be provided in the police lines area of that district.
In the remaining districts, other sites have been identified for establishing protection homes for the couples marrying outside the wishes of their parents. In Rohtak, the facility of protection home would be in house number 1674/22 of Srinagar Colony which is office of an NGO named Bharat Vikas Sangh. Similarly, in district Mahendergarh, such a facility would be provided in PWD (B&R) rest house at Narnaul whenever required. In Hisar, the protection home would be in Red Cross Society Building located at Dabra Chowk of Hisar. Similarly in Sirsa district, such facility would be provided in working women hostel run by Red Cross Society. In Kaithal, the Civil rest house would have protection home for that district and in Yamunanagar, such facility would be provided in Youth hostel at Tejli Sports Complex. In Rewari also the protection home would be made in the working women hostel. In district Mewat, such home would be made available in house number 47A and 48A of Housing Board colony at Nuh and in Faridabad, the protection home would be made in the working women hostel of sector 16 Faridabad. Similarly, in Fatehabad district house number 11 and 12 of teaching staff residences at Govt. Girls School Bhoria khera and house number 4 and 6 of residential area for staff of Govt. School Bhattu kalan would be made protection homes whenever required.
