8 Oct : The nine day long revered festival of Navratri dedicated to the nine manifestations of Divine mother began on Friday across the country.
Nine nights are devoted to the reverence of nine aspects of the mother.For the devout, these days are sacrosanct for it is during these days, when Goddess Durga takes stock of her devotees and grants all blessings and remove ills and evils.
Navratri culminates with Dusshera, which celebrates the victory of Lord Ram over Ravan.Devotees in large numbers are thronging various temples on the first day of Navratri.
In the national capital, elaborate arrangements have been made to celebrate the Navratra festival. All major and small temples in Delhi have been decorated with colourful lights.
As the Commonwealth Games coincide with the festival, the famous Chhatarpur temple, Jhandewalan, Malai Temple and Biral Temple have become the place of attractions for people.
Delhi Police has also made strict arrangements of security across the city to thwart any untoward incident.
