14 June : Free Thyroid Dysfunction awareness and checkup camp was organized today by Public Awareness for Healthful Approach for Living (PAHAL) at Patna today. Inaugurating the camp, Medical Director PAHAL, Dr Diwakar Tejaswi informed that Thyroid dysfunction problem is on rise in Patna and timely detection and treatment of the same is must. Hypothyroidism is seen more among young females and it leads to lethargy, weakness, swelling of body, hair fall, insomnia, infertility, decreased bone density and muscle cramps. Dr Tejaswi told that Hyperthyroid cases are less in society.
95 persons were tested for Thyroid function and 11 were found to have Hypothyroid features. On the occasion, Dr Tejaswi told that PAHAL will organize free Thyroid awareness and testing camp every month this year.
