A well known personality and an avid golfer of Chandigarh Golf Club, Sh. IPS Mann qualifed and won a Bronze Medal in the team event at the Asia Pacific Seniors Golf Championship which was held at Bangkok Golf Club, a Jack Nicklaus Design course, from 24th – 26th November 2010.
The Asia Pacific Seniors Golf Championship is sanctioned by the Thailand Golf Association and sponsored by the Asia Pacific Golf Federation. The Championship is played on a stroke play format over 54 holes by golfers above 55 years of age. Each country sends a team comprising of maximum 6 players who must be citizens or residents of the country they represent. The qualifying rounds for this Championship were conducted by the Indian Golf Union at the Royal Calcutta Golf Course from 20th – 22nd October where IPS Mann was selected as a part of the six member team from India, Bunny Laxman Singh being the Captain of the team.
For the first time ever The Indian Seniors Team won a Medal, a Bronze Medal. Also for the first time ever a Senior Member from Chandigarh Golf Club represented India and helped secure a medal for the country. On coming back IPS Mann said “the course conditions were extremely tough as the course had over 36 water hazards, 110 bunkers and the greens playing at 11.5 on the stimp meter. But we still did it!”
