PM Modi reiterated the NDA Government’s commitment to Housing for all by 2022 when India marks 75 years of Independence.
A government that is open to feedback, one that interacts with beneficiaries, it is for the first time that a Prime Minister regularly uses technology to reach out to people. Continuing the series of interactions via the Namo app, Prime Minister Modi interacted with beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
PM Modi also recounted the efforts made by his government to free the housing sector from middlemen, corruption and ensuring that the beneficiaries get their own home without hassles.
He hit out at the UPA government for working for political gains and not the welfare of the people.
Using facts and figures PM Modi exposed the previous governments for their inability to fulfil their promises. Prime Minister said that his govt had set a target of constructing 3 crore houses in rural areas and 1 crore houses in urban areas by 2022.
Budgetary allocations have been increased to help achieve this ambitious goal. Due to PMAY, employment opportunities are being created for people.
The government is also working on skill development and use of technology to enable faster and better quality construction of the houses.
