The Department of Urdu University of Jammu organized a meet the Short Story Writers program. The reputed Urdu and Punjabi Short Story Writer of the Sub-Continent Mr. Khalid Hussain was the invited short Story Writer who shared his experiences with the audience .
Minister for PHE Jb Taj Mohi-Ud Din was the Chief Quest on the occasion while noted Journalist Ved Bhasin presided over the function. The HOD Urdu Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik also graced the presidium while interacting with the audience.Khalid Hussain informed that he had started short story writing when he was a student. He said that his Punjabi Short Stories had got published in various Journals of India and Pakistan, he had also published collection of short stories in Urdu like Istharoon Wali Haweli and Thandhi Kangri Ka Duan, regarding the Art of Short Story Jb. Khalid Hussain said that plot and characters play vital role in the short stories, while replying a questions asked by the audience Khalid Hussain informed that he had inspired the short story writers of Urdu like Krishan chander , Bedi and Ismat Chugtai. On this occasion Khalid Hussain had also presented two Urdu Short Stories, he had presented the present turmoil of J&K state.
Speaking on the occasion the chief guest Jb. Taj Mohi Ud Din described Khalid Hussain a close friend and a reputed writer, he informed that he had almost gone through all the writings of Khalid in which he had presented the realities of life, he is also a man having a secular bent of mind . Jb. Taj Mohi Ud Din further said that Khalid Hussain is also a social and cultural activists .
In his presidential address. Jb. Ved Bhasin described his 40 years old relationship with Khalid, he remembered those days when Khalid Hussain used to present his short stories in the meetings of the Anjuman-E-Faroge Urdu, he said that he had presented the culture of Jammu in his short stories, his writings give the message of love and brotherhood .
In his well come address HOD urdu Prof. Shohab Inayat Malik while introducing Khalid to the audience discussed his simplicity and the art of writings, he described the Khalid a prolific writer. Prof Shohab Inayat Malik said that Khalid had always struggled for the development of Urdu Language and literature of the state, Prof. Shohab described Khalid a able administrator, who had worked for the down trodden masses of the state, the program was attended by students, Scholars and Civil Society Member
The proceeding of the function was presided over by Dr. Mohd Reyaz Ahmed while Liaqat Jafri presented a vote of thanks.
