Chandigarh. November 12, 2012. Mission: the Awakening, an NGO, today celebrated Diwali by lighting over 4000 earthren diyas at Plaza, Sector 17, Chandigarh today on the eve of Diwali.
This is the 11th consecutive year that this event is being organised with the aim to propagate the message of brotherhood while inviting the people from different walks of life and celebrating the occasion together.
Diyas were placed on a design depicting ‘Lord Ganesha” designed by Mr. Suresh Pushpakar, an eminent artist and assisted by Rajesh Sharma and other activists and was prepared with the help of slums-children from Chandigarh. The activists and residents of Chandigarh lighted over 4000 earthen lamps during the ceremony for the Peace, brotherhood and prosperity.
A large number of children, youngster, foreigners and old age persons also took part in the event and appreciated the activity.
Amongst prominent who attended the ceremony were Rajesh Sharma, Suresh Pushpakar, Yadvindra Salwan, Hemant Khanna, Vinay Kumar Paitka, Sukhdeep Singh, Dinesh Dobhal, Adv. G. S. Saathi, Akhil Sharma and Sahil Paitka.
