INDIANAPOLIS, AUG 11 : A large numbers of Indian families settled here today thronged the Monument Circle to celebrate the India Day in Indianapolis. Mayor Ballard’s Office of International & Cultural Affairs, together with India Association of Indianapolis (IAI) and Indianapolis-Hyderabad Sister City Committee (IHSCC) organised the 4th annual India Day.
Dances from different states of India, from Kashmir to Kanyakumar, displayed the theme “Unity in Diversity”. Cultural programmes were presented by enthusiastic boys and girls which got repeated applause from all those who thronged the Monument Circle
The India Day is celebrated to signify the unique and valuable contribution the Indian communities have made to Indianapolis. The festivities included: food, performances, fashion and a number of other entertaining programmes.
Mrs Kavya Reddy, president of the India Association of Indianapolis congratulated the executive members and all the participants for making the day a memorable one. All participants were awarded trophies to encourage them.
Indianapolis Hyderabad Sister City Committee president Raja Chinthala was also present on the occasion.
India Association of Indianapolis will now celebrate Diwali on November 9 at 6.p.m at Old National Centre, Murat.
