B’day Party for Bapu Dham Kids
Chandigarh, November 8 ’09: Today, at a special function attended by children’s from Bapu Dham Colony, Sector 26, at “Kitab Ghar’ library, new quarterly edition of “Jugnu’-children’s newspaper of the area was released by Madhvi Kataria, PCS officer with Government of Punjab. This newspaper is an effort by volunteers of an NGO-Yuvsatta to strengthen participatory democracy at grassroots’ levels.
Sharing his views Anil Kumar the editor of paper and a class XI student informed that this issue carries their reports about problems faced by residents, their achievements, an interview with environmentalist Sunder Lal Bahuguna, children’s resolve to keep Bapu Dham polythene bag free and simple tips on water conservation, maintaining health and hygienic living environment in the area. And their this edition of ‘Jugnu’ is supported by Gandhi Smriti & Darshan Samiti, New Delhi.
This day was also special as it was an occasion to celebrate together the birthday of all the children’s born in this month of November..So, not only the eight children whose B’day was celebrated today with cake, chocolates, sweets etc. enjoyed the party, but others also joined them by singing and dancing to the tune of latest musical numbers.
