6 Sep : As a mark of respect to Dr. Sarvpalli Radhakrishnan and to maintain Guru Shishya Parampara alive, September 06, 2009 was celebrated as ‘Guru Pratibha Day’ by KBDAV-7, Chandigarh in a unique manner at Tagore Theatre, Sector-18, Chandigarh. Keeping the tradition of the school intact, all Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff Members presented theme-based, value-oriented items for the school children, which were choreographed in an exceptional manner.
To grace the occasion, eminent dignitaries from respective field were present. Dr. Mrs. Nisha Peshin, Director (PS-III), DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi was the Chief Guest of the grand show. Mr. H.S. Mattewal, Hon’ble Advocate General of Punjab was the Special Guest of Honour and Dr. Raj Bahadur, Director Principal, GMCH, Sector 32, Chandigarh presided over the function. Other dignitaries like Mr. D.R. Yadava, Regional Officer, CBSE, Panchkula, Justice A.L. Bahri, Vice President DAVCMC & Vice-Chairman of the School, Dr. R.S. Khandpur, Director General, Pushpa Gujral Science City, Mr. Subhash Marriya, Manager of the school and Principals of local DAV institutions were present on the occasion.
The grand show started with lighting of lamp by the dignitaries present followed by prayer on ‘Namo-Namah’ by school students. Another touching and soul fulfilling song was presented by the ‘Saral Ahsaas’ students and their teachers.
The four houses Jasmine, Lotus, Rose and Tulip stood under tough competition to exhibit their theme based performances for the students which was indeed enjoyed by all.
The Jasmine House presented ‘Nari Shakti’ – Role of Powerful Women starting from Goddess Durga to President Pratibha Patil and indeed their own school Principal most dynamic Mrs. Madhu Bahl were the part of the show.
With approaching Navratras this month, the Rose House presented Dandiya as a tribute to Goddess Durga.
The Lotus House depicted Dance-cum-Theatre with the theme “Role of Ideal Students in Today’s’ time.
The Tulip House depicted Unity in Diversity on a latest song number ‘Twist’ which was indeed enjoyed by the students. .
The Lotus House was adjudged as the 1st Best House by the member of jury for their excellent performance. They were awarded with a big Silver Trophy. Tulip House was declared as a 2nd Best House and were awarded trophy for that. Jasmine House was declared as a 3rd Best House and were awarded with trophy.
As per the tradition of the school, Principal announced five best teachers of the year 2008, who were honoured with Shawl and flowers by Mrs. Nisha Peshin and Mr. H.S. Mattewal
Mr. H.S. Mattewal addressed the staff members and children of the institution and appreciated the efforts made by the teachers of the school to put up such an excellent cultural show that would strengthen the bond between teachers and students and inculcate strong values among them.
Dr. Raj Bahadur appreciated that KBDAV-7 has taken a lead among all public schools to celebrate Teachers’ Day in such a unique manner.
Mrs. Nisha Peshin highly appreciated the efforts and hard work put in by the staff members under the headship of Principal Madhu Bahl who have prepared a spectacular show in such a short span of time.
The whole programme ended with a Grand Finale on the Oscar winning number ‘Jai Ho !’ with a message of love for the country in the hearts of the students for long.
