Kohima 20 June: Nagaland Governor, K.Sankaranarayanan released “Echoes of Spring”, a collection of poems by Rita and Agnes Krocha at Raj Bhavan, Kohima this morning.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor complimented the Krocha sisters for coming up with the beautiful compilation that reflects a deep understanding of nature and society as it exists in and around us. Despite a lot of sadness and gloom everyday, the Governor said that the poets have captured the underlining feeling of hope and cheer which are essential for humanity, which in his view are the true ‘echoes of spring’.
The Governor said that many young people are writing good poetry that is published regularly in the local newspapers and most of the poems and articles reflect the mood of the youth in Nagaland. He said that it clearly shows their desire for peace, hope and even causes like environment and wildlife. ‘It is indeed a healthy sign as we are a young State and if our youth can think independently and be conscious of issues directly affecting the society, bright and better days are not far off,’ the Governor added.
Director, NEZCC, V.Hekali Zhimomi IAS in her introductory speech said that NEZCC is proud to be associated with the publication of the poems and said that their achievement is an example of doing what we love and further thanked the Governor for his support.
Earlier in the function, Rita Krocha read out two poems from the collection.. Agnes Krocha tendered the vote of thanks and Vilodie Sakhrie chaired the programme.
