By Jagpreet Sandhu, November 17 : Punjab Horse Sports and Breeders Society is going to organize 2nd All India Horse Endurance on November 19th at village Kaler Bhaini near Dakala, to encourage New Equestrian.
The President Sumrinder Sira of the Society said the first prize of the 2nd Punjab horse endurance has been doubled this time to One Lakh. The second and third prize will be Rs. 51000 and third
Rs. 21000 respectively, he added. The President also said that the race will be of 40 kilometers having two rounds of 20 kms each.
Col. Sarpartap Singh, an International Equestrian Judge who is Vice president (Technical) of the society told that this step was taken to with an aim to preserve and look for the welfare of the indigenous horse breeds of India. To uplift the standards of upkeep and to introduce awareness amongst various breeders related to all aspects of horse health care. He also told that 50-60 horses are expected to participate in the meet. Horses from Rajasthan and Haryana are also expected to participate.
Gagandeep Ahuja, Vice president (media) said on this occasion that such meets would be held twice a year. He said that for a rider to be eligible to participate, he should be able to qualify the 40 km ride. It is hoped that such an endeavor will introduce to the new generation of riders; the skills associated with horsemanship and acquaint & expose them to the modern day equestrian sports, thus preparing them to eventually compete at the national and international levels, he added.
