Chandigarh : Association of Basic Medical Scientists (ABMS), PGIMER, celebrated National Science Day . This day is being celebrated in India on 28th Feb each year to mark the discovery of Raman’s effect by Sir CV Raman, the first noble laureate scientist of India.
First time in PGIMER, ABMS representing the research scholars of the institute has taken initiative to celebrate National Science Day with the theme “Public appreciation on scientific issues for the development of nation at Bhargwa auditorium, PGIMER. Honorable health Minister of Punjab Heath Minister Shri Surjit Kumar Jyani, Ajit Balaji Joshi, Deputy Commissioner, Shri Baldev Mahajan Adovocate General , Vineet Joshi, Astt. Media Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister grace the occasion.
To mark the beginning of the event, a 21 KM marathon (in collaboration with Chandigarh Runners) ‘Sciencethon’ connecting all the CRIKC institutes of the city with an aim to unite for knowledge was flagged of by Shri Santosh Kumar, Director, Science and Technology, UT DST Chandigarh at 06:30 am from Pryavaran Bhawan, Chd.
After that series of lectures by eminent speakers on innovative research, Entrepreneurship, Start up India and intellectual property rights were delivered. Program was also followed by Science quiz and debate. Research scholars throughout tri city showed their enthusiasm and temperament towards science by participating with great zeal in the events. The event ends up with a colorful cultural night. The Director and Dean PGIMER appreciates the event and the hard work of the team members (ABMS) to bring the event into live.
