Kurukshetra, October 17- Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Chair & Department of History, Kurukshetra University organized a one-day national Seminar on “Baba Banda Singh Bahadur & The First Sikh State for commemoration of his 345thbirth anniversary” here on Friday.
In his Key-Note Address, Prof. G. S. L. Devra, former Vice-Chancellor, Vardhman Mahaveer Open University, Kota, Rajasthan threw light on the ecological and environmental aspect of the fight of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur. In his Presidential Address, Prof. S. M. Azizzuddin Husain, Former Director, Rampur Raza Library, Rampur, UP described the movement of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur as a parallel movement with Sufi as both were against the unruly, un-Islamic, inhuman rule of the Mughals. Guest of Honour, S. Roopinder Singh, Associate Editor, The Tribune, Chandigarh described the importance of internet on the readings of History.
Prof. Amarjit Singh, Director, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Chair described how Banda Singh Bahadur indeed practiced the ideals and philosophy of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and established the first Khalsa State. Chief Guest, Baba Jatinder Pal Singh Ji Sodhi, Gaddi-Nashin, Dera Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, Reasi, J & K told how Baba Banda Singh Bahadur established the first pillar-stone of the Sikh State before Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Prof. M. M. Goel, proposed the vote of thanks to all in a very apt but literary way and presented Anu-Gita to all the dignitaries present on the occasion..
A book, ‘Revisiting Banda Singh Bahadur and His Times’ edited by Prof. (Dr.) Amarjit Singh, was released on the occasion. It is the first authentic work on Baba Banda Singh Bahadur in the context of the Sikh history and the history of the early eighteenth century India.
