Mohali: A tree plantation drive for addressing the environmental issues was launched today by Hara Punjab Khara Samaj an NGO under the ambit of Desh Bhagat Group of Institutes at Jayanti Devi Mandir, near Mullapur, (Mohali) under Mission ‘Desh Bhagat’
Tajinder Kaur Vice Chairperson of Desh Bhagat Group and CEO of ‘Hara Punjab Khara Samaj’ took this initiative on this auspicious day at the religious shrine to launch the massive tree plantation campaign.Mr.Anil Verma, Charter Accountant accompanied the CEO and took participated in the campaign by planting sapling in the area.With an aim to create awareness about preservation and protection of environment, more than 200 plants were planted. On this occasion a langar was also organized.While addressing the media, Ms.Tajinder Kaur said, “Being a member of International Association for Voluntary Effort (IAVE), Hara Punjab Khara Samaj has been actively campaigning to create awareness about volunteering. The motto of its campaign is ‘IK RUKH IK GHAR’ (one tree for each family).”
“Emphasis should be laid on the dangers of water scarcity, erosion of soils and degradation of environment. These challenges can only be combated through massive forestation drives. By Planting of medicinal tree and fruit trees we can improve environment for conserving water and preventing soil erosion. We have taken a pledge to plant trees at every occasion to save the planet earth for our generation next.” She further added.
Dr.Zora Singh, Chairman, Desh Bhagat Group of Institutes said, “We would like to plant a huge amount of trees across the country through our chapters and make sure that in the future we have enough trees for our generation and for the future generations as well. More than 65,000 trees have already been planted in Punjab and Chandigarh. Mr.Jatinder Kapoor, Ashok Gupta and Vivek Goyal were also present.
