Amritsar, March 16 : The collaborative research work on ‘Non-Linear Optical Materials’ by Dr. Paramjit Kaur of Department of Chemistry and Prof. Kamaljit Singh of Department of Applied Chemical Sciences and Technology of the Guru Nanak Dev University has been accepted for publication in the high impact Journal of Material Chemistry. One of their Ph.D students, Miss Mandeep Kaur is working on this.
This is the first publication from North India in this field of research. This work has also fetched a ‘Best Paper Award’ at North Zone meeting of Chemical Research Society of India held at University of Jammu, to celebrate the International Year of Chemistry, 2011.
Elaborating the research work, Dr. Paramjit Kaur said that Non-linear optics describes the behavior of light in the non-linear media and thus non-linear optical materials can find wide applications in the field of photonics, nano-photonics and optoelectronics such as optical signal processing, broadband optical communications, integrated optics, optical sensing, optical poling, optical limiting, optical computing etc.
