Committee for taking initiatives to promote Green Activities as per NAAC Guidelines, Punjabi University, Patiala has organized one day workshop on Green Auditing in Collaboration with Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, Chandigarh on 19th March, 2024. Dr. Onkar Singh Brraich, organizing secretary introduced the objectives of the workshop and said that dialogue for knowledge exchange and experience sharing among teachers about wise use of various resources to mitigate climate change is need of the hour.
The programme began with the opening remarks of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Arvind, in his address, he motivated the young students to participate wholeheartedly in the protection of environment. He also laid stress to generate awareness teachers in the mitigation of environmental degradation. He further said that we have to comply with the NAAC to achieve better grades. Prof. Dharam Veer Sharma, Director IQAC Cell talked about role of gren initiatives in NAAC scoring. Chief Guest Er. Pritpal Singh, Additional Director, Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, Chandigarh emphasized on environment sustainability to combat climate change.
Prof. Narinder Singh, IIT Ropar during his talk stressed upon application part of various technologies developed in his laboratory for purification of polluted water. He developed different type of sensors to identify impurities in the water. Dr. Rajeev Kumar, Head, Department of Environment Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh explained about green initiatives taken by Panjab University. Teachers were invited from Punjabi University Campus, Constituent Colleges, Regional Centres and Neighbourhood Campuses. Around 150 participants were participated during this event.
