Chandigarh, April 17 – Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Bhupinder Singh Hooda has approved the proposal for setting up of a ‘School of Urban Planning and Architecture’ as the fourth institution in the Rohtak Campus. Its building and other infrastructure would be ready for use by July 2012.
While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that the other three institutes functional in the Rohtak Campus included State Institute of Fine Arts, State Institute of Fashion Design and State Institute of Film and TV. The Campus has been designed for four independent institutions with Central Auditorium Block, Guest House Block and Administrative Block.
The School of Urban Planning and Architecture would be developed in a phased manner. In the first phase, he said, the institute would lay focus on development of undergraduate programme covering the aspects of Architecture, Urban and Town Planning. Similarly, post graduate programmes and tailor made programme for industry requirements would be introduced in second phase. He said that in the third phase, it would be developed as research institution to provide needful support for urban planning and Architecture in northern region of the country.This school would also cater to the need of qualified urban planners in the country, he added.
