Chandigarh , Sanjay Pahwa: Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management, Catering and Nutrition, sector 42, celebrated World Tourism Day which was a befitting occasion for the spontaneous outburst of high spirits in a wide range of talent and creativity.
On this occasion a number of vivacious events were organised in the Institute premises to mark the celebrations of the day. Around 150 candidates participated in the various categories of the competitions.
An inter college flower arrangement (fresh & dry category), poster making and slogan writing competition was organised on the theme “Tourism & Sustainable Energy – Powering Sustainable Development”. The students participated with full enthusiasm and joy, showcasing the best of their talent and creativity in the events.
The prizes and certificates were awarded to the winners in each event. The following were the winners of the various events.

“Tourism offers a wonderful connecting thread between visitor and host community. It promotes dialogue and interaction. Such contact between people of different backgrounds is the very foundation for tolerance. In a world struggling for peaceful coexistence, tourism can build bridges and contribute to peace” quoted Mrs. Bharti Tyagi, the Principal of the Institute.
A Cake Decoration demonstration was also organised for the students where the students were showcased how different types of cakes are prepared, the different ingredients used in making cakes and how they are decorated to make them more appealing and attractive. The students were also familiarized with the latest trends and happenings in the cake making business.
“I really enjoyed the cake decoration session; it was very informative and full of interesting facts. It was very helpful for budding chefs like us”said one of the students at the institute.
Principal, staff and students initiated the CLEAN INDIA CAMPAIGN, under the Ministry of Tourism, Govt. Of India, at the NEW LAKE, sector 42 and a talk was given by the principal to sensitize the students about the importance of environmental hygiene and sanitation.
