6 June:BJP leader L K Advani has said the party was ready to face the Lok Sabha polls in case the elections are held now.
"We would welcome if the UPA government holds elections now," said Advani addressing BJP workers at Jollygrant Airport near Dehradun as he arrived on a two-day trip to the hill state.
Advani, who flew here along with his wife and daughter on the official plane of Chief Minister B C Khanduri, said the people of the country were fed up with the central government over the rising prices of essential commodities.
"They (the people) want to get rid of this UPA go vernment," said Advani.
Referring to the hike in prices of petroleum goods, Advani, in his brief address, said the centre could also have avoided the price hike of petroleum products as the people were reeling under constant price rise over the past 4 years.
"Under the NDA regime, crude oil prices had risen. But we managed to control the situation by not passing on the burden to the common people," he said.
He also said all the BJP-ruled states have been told to give relief to the people by cutting the local taxes on petroleum products. courtsey : DD NEWS
