Archit Watts ,Chandigarh, August 12 : A former fellow and professor of modern literature at Panjab University, Dr. Naresh, for his contribution to the Urdu literature, has been selected by the Haryana Wakf Board for the prestigious Maulana Altaf Husain Hali Award to be held in Ambala on August 19.
Dr. Naresh, a celebrated poet and writer, has authored about 70 books and has already received many state, national and international awards.
Commenting on the state of Urdu in India, Dr. Naresh said that Urdu was the true representative of our secularism, which must be allowed to flourish in its land of birth. It is the language that gave us the slogan of “Inqalab Zindabad” that motivated millions of Indians to jump into the freedom struggle.
The award was instituted five years ago, which is annually presented to one Urdu writer of long standing in acknowledgement of his services to the promotion of Urdu language and literature.
