18 Sep :Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee gave a seven-day deadline to the WBengal govt to dismantle ‘camps of armed CPIM cadre’ in three Maoist-hit districts, failing which “people will demolish them.”
“I am giving seven day’s time to wind up the camps of armed CPI(M) cadre in Jungle Mahal (Maoist affected areas of West Midnapore, Bankura and Purulia districts) or the people will demolish them with whatever they have,” Banerjee told a party rally in Jamalpur in Burdwan district on Saturday, a Marxist stronghold.
Alleging that armed cadre would not be allowed to help the CPI(M) win the ensuing assembly elections, she said, “This government is of supari killers, by the supari killers and for the supari killers.” She claimed that the killers were being paid Rs one lakh for each killing.
She said that Union Home Minister P Chidamabaram and Governor M K Narayanan had admitted existence of the camps.
She raised the pitch for early assembly elections stating that the Constitution allowed the Election Commission to initiate the election process six months before the due date.
“Constitution gives the Elections Commission the power of holding assembly election six months before the due date which is December 11 this year. After December 11 the Election Commission will decide when the elections will be held,” she said.
She also said that in the event of her party coming to power in the assembly elections, a family member of party workers and supporters who have lost their lives in political clashes will be provided a government job.
