Chandigarh — The 34th Annual Conference of the Chandigarh Ophthalmological Society was held on November 26, 2023, at Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector – 32, Chandigarh. The event drew around 150 delegates from across North India, making it a remarkable congregation of leading minds in ophthalmology.
The conference, led by Dr. Amit Gupta, President of Chandigarh Ophthalmological Society (COS), and organized by Dr. Parul Ichhpujani, the Secretary of COS, proved to be a resounding success, featuring a range of activities and discussions that pushed the boundaries of knowledge in the field.
Key Highlights of the conference included two Distinguished Orations. The Prof I S Jain Memorial Oration was awarded to the esteemed Padma Shri Prof Jagat Ram and the Dr A D Grover Memorial Oration was conferred upon Padma Shri Prof Jeevan S Titiyal, Chief of Dr R P Centre of Ophthalmic Sciences, AIIMS, New Delhi. Both the orators are globally recognised in cataract and refractive surgery, coupled with their prowess as visionary educators, added a prestigious dimension to the event. Comprehensive Sessions included a symposium on Recent Advances in Ophthalmology brought together experts to discuss cutting-edge developments in the field. A dedicated session for young ophthalmologists facilitated the exchange of ideas and experiences among emerging professionals.
The free paper session, challenging cases session, and E Poster session provided a platform for both young and seasoned ophthalmologists to share insights and advancements. Dr Arpita Kulshreshta and Dr Abha Gupta from Advanced Eye Centre won the Best Free Paper Award and the Best Challenging Case awards, respectively. Dr Sonali Kaundal from Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector – 32, Chandigarh, won the Best E-Poster award.
