International AIDS Candlelight Memorial was observed at Patna today by lightening of candles in memory of those who have lost their lives in fight against AIDS. Noted AIDS expert, Dr Diwakar Tejaswi stated that “The International AIDS Candlelight Memorial is an essential platform that allows the global health community to advocate for needed change”. The theme of this year’s International AIDS Candlelight Memorial is “Touching Lives” which demands government’s commitment to improve the lives of people living with HIV. Dr Tejaswi informed that more than 40,000 people are indetified to be living with HIV in Bihar whereas more than 100,000 are expected to be living with HIV in Bihar and the number is growing fastly. Unofficially around 2000-3000 people in Bihar have died due to AIDS. Others who sopke on the ocassion included Frank Kishner, Sister Juliane, Mr Sanjit and others.
