CHANDIGARH, APRIL 6 :The Chandigarh Football Association has decided to launch football academies for boys and girls. According to CFA president Venod Sharma, the main purpose of starting football academies for boys and girls is to provide free training at the grass root level.
The academies would be launched tomorrow. The boys would get training at SD Senior Secondary School in Sector 24 and the girls would be given soccer lessons at Dev Samaj College for Girls in Sector 45. The managements of both educational institutions have given permission and assured full cooperation in running the football academies.
CFA secretary Rakesh Bakshi said that these coaching academies would be managed by the association. Senior players will impart training from 5 ato 6.30 p.m. daily. The players will be imparted training in fundamentals and basic techniques and will be made aware of laws of the game.
The CFA has informed schools and colleges to send their boys and girls who are willing to get training free of cost. The players have been directed to come in playing kit and will have to maintain discipline on and off the field.
The players should get themselves registered for being enrolled in the football coaching acdemies.
The association also released its calendar for 2008-9. Football Festival for U-10 boys in October/November. State Meet for U-12 (boys) in September/October. State Meet for U-14 (boys) in September/October. State Meet for U-16 (boys) in August/September. State Meet for U-19 (boys) in July/August. State Meet for U-21 (boys) in October/November. State Meet for Seniors (men) in April/May.
Football Festival for U-10 (girls) (dates to be decided). State meet for U-13 (girls) in October. State Meet for U-17 (girls) in August. State Meet for Under-19 (girls) in August/September. State Meet for senior girls in October/November.
Bakshi said that the CFA would field its teams in the National Championships, organised by the All India Football Federation.
