14 Nov : On 14th November 2008, during the Children’s Day celebration, the premises of KBDAV-7, Chandigarh was filled with zeal of patriotism, togetherness and love for beloved of all children, India’s first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru. Colourful presentation of cultural items by the tiny tots touched the souls of audience whereas senior students discussed global issues by participating in debate, declamation and speech contest.The celebration started after paying tribute to Chacha Nehru. School Principal Mrs. Madhu Bahl addressed the students leaving a message for all children that they should live by Chacha Nehru’s standards and examples who laid the foundation to convert a budding nation into a world power. So each child should contribute by becoming a responsible citizen for the progress of the nation.
The enthusiastic tiny tots of pre-primary dressed up as animals depicting wild life danced on different animal sounds filling the ambience of the school with exhilarating zeal. Next come up Nursery lads dressed up as Birds to give wings to our new thoughts and ideas. KG children took the religious approach worshiping Lord Ganesha on a number ‘Shankar’s Damroo’. Class I and II kids dressed up as National Leaders participated in Fancy Dress Competition. Primary students kept the national spirit intact with their individual presentation of patriotic songs and dances.The high point of the celebration was little ones from ‘Saral Ahsaas’ who mesmerized the audience with their thrilling number ‘Om Shanti Om’.
Senior students from Class VII to XII touched the sensitive global issues by participating in debate, declamation and speech contests. While students of Classes VII and VIII, spoke on the ‘Affect of Televisions on Audience’ and sketched out a reality where in we all dream of success, yet fail to achieve it. The message of value of time and how it formed a crucial intergradient of success came out loud and clear. Through the declamation contest, ‘Growing Communalism Poses Challenges to Secularism in India’, the students of Class XI & XII spoke on how communalism, which is promotion of religious prototypes and violent activities by extremists, has taken religious overtones in India. Illiteracy and Political Vendettas fashion our values. The students stressed on How India the largest democracy in the world should steer off all controversies. Secularism is India’s strength and the focus should be to accept. The debate competition for Class IX & X deliberated on whether India has a reason to celebrate or fret on its signing the Nuclear Deal. ‘India did well by signing Nuclear Deal’ attracted opinions and searched on how to create a bridge between the two shores of unity.
The ‘Radio Show’ competition kicked off with a fiery start. Students of Class IX, X, XI & XII mimicked movie greats like Aamir Khan, Cricketers, Harbhajan Mann, Controversial politicians like Laloo Prasad Yadav and not even sparing companies like Hutch. Vital questions about education were also highlighted.
In nutshell, the whole school was caught up with lots of vigour and patriotic zeal. The celebrations concluded with distribution of certificates and prizes to the students.
