Chandigarh: Legendary singer and heartthrob of Punjab Shri Gurdas Maan performed during 11th Chandigarh National Crafts Mela at Kalagram on Friday. Maan began the show with a prayer song followed by whooping hits like ‘Ki banu duniya da’, ‘Chhalla’, ‘Dil da mamla’, ‘Sajna ve Sajna’ besides other chartbusters, enchanting the audience with his melifluous voice and mesmerising presence.
Roti, Chuglian, Ishq da gidda and Punjab among others are his noteworthy albums. Songwriting, choreographing and acting are the other contributions of Gurdas Maan, who is considered as the most noted artist in Punjab. He has been traveling around the globe for nearly three decades.
He has acted in many Punjabi films. Uncha dar babe Nanak da, Long da Lashkara, Yaariyan, Nankana, Shaheed Udham Singh are among the long list of his much loved audience.
Maan also rendered a few songs on demand from the audience. Sunil Kumar on Mandolin, Ratan Lal on Octopad, Tulsi Anupam on Keyboard, Ranjit Singh Laddi on electric guitar, Parminder Singh and Manoj Kumar on back vocals, Puneet Singh on dhol, Sandeep Kumar and Jaswant Singh (Bhola) on dholak, Rakesh Kumar on tabla gave pleasing contributions.
Sh. Tejdeep Singh Saini, Director Sports, U.T. Chandigarh was the Chief Guest. Director NZCC Professor Saubhagya Vardhan and Director Cultural Affairs U.T, Chandigarh Sorabh Kumar Arora were present on the occasion.
