By Sargun Makhni 9th September 2008 :I am white and orange in color, I often lead to lung cancer and oral cancer, the smoke I sprout transforms your body into ashes and one who lives with me, I take away his life! Yes!! I am that killer CIGARETTE!Cigarette smoking is injurious for each and every organ of the body we can also say that one who smokes are near to the death stage. Nicotine which is a highly addictive drug is found in tobacco. The intake of this drug stops ones body’s growth and results in causing various fatal diseases. It also leads to low blood pressure, cardiac disorders, lung cancer, oral cancer and many other breath taking diseases. Many people and youngsters consider it to be a status symbol.
No doubt the statutory advice of “Cigarette smoking is injurious to health” is printed on every cigarette packet but it is not paid attention and is overlooked. Cigarette smoke contains about 4000 chemicals and most of which are supposed to damage the heart system. The most dangerous chemicals present in it are carbon monoxide, nicotine, and butadiene causing thousands of deaths and millions of heart attacks and arthritics. If someone decides to leave this habit it’s not so easy but when one leaves it results in proper development of ones body, lessens the risk of developing diseases, increases your learning and working capacity and halves the risk of dying. Many symptoms that may exist for few days after leaving smoking habit can be faintness, depressions, trouble while sleeping, agitation, headache and sleepiness.
In order to reduce the mortality rate for the same, government should organize talk shows, seminars, road shows or stage dramas celebration of no tobacco day with zeal and enthusiasm can also be fruitful. However we should all join hands with the government and organize such talk’s shows and seminars and make the people realize that cigarette is a killer who will kill one and all if they don’t leave it.
