Chandigarh 24 Nov : Aryans Institute of Management and Technology (AIMT) today organized a lecture on “Vedic Mathematics”. Renowned Mathematician Mr. Rishi Bhardwaj, Chandigarh was the speaker. Around 150 BBA/BCA Students of AIMT attended the Lecture.
Mr. Rishi Bhardwaj taught the way of easy calculations to the students like general multiplication method, simple squaring method, unit digit multiplier etc. The general multiplication method is easily reversed to allow one-line divisions and the simple squaring method can be reversed to give one-line square roots. Difficult problems or huge sums can often be solved immediately by the Vedic method. He also added that the simplicity of Vedic Mathematics means that calculations can be carried out mentally.
It is to be mentioned that Vedic Mathematics is the name given to the ancient system of Mathematics which was rediscovered from the Vedas between 1911 and 1918 by Sri Bharati Krsna Tirthaji (1884-1960). According to his research all of mathematics is based on sixteen Sutras or word-formulae. For example, ‘Vertically and crosswise is one of these Sutras. These formulae describe the way the mind naturally works and are therefore a great help in directing the student to the appropriate method of solution.
Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, ABS mentioned the importance of this lecture for BBA/BCA students and how the students are benefited at large from this. Vedic mathematics is a long forgotten technique for mathematical calculations. It is amazing how with the help of 16 sutras you will be able to solve/calculate complex mathematical problems-mentally, he added.
