Chandigarh, May 7; Today, a two day ‘Gandhi Darshan Peace Training Programme’ for over 150 kids from 50 prominent Schools of the city concluded at New Public School, Chandigarh with a resolve by young students to visit Anna Hazare’s village Ralegan Siddhi in Maharashtra in their coming summer vacations. The programme was jointly organized by Yuvsatta and Peace Club of New Public School, Chandigarh.
Presenting participants with autobiography and other books by Mahatma Gandhi Dr. Surender S. Dahiya, Director, State Institute of Education, Chandigarh shared that going by the inhuman acts of ever increasing violence against man & nature, its high time that Schools and Colleges make extra efforts to nurture the spirit of service and peace amongst young students. He further said that Peace Clubs in Schools started by Yuvsatta with support of Education Department is an important medium to address the problems of increasing violence and consumerism in the society.Later in the programme young Peace Club student members who participated in this programme decided that with support of Yuvsatta volunteers, in their summer break they’ll visit Ralegan Siddhi village in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra, to directly learn from Anna Hazare-the living spirit of Mahatma Gandhi, who is especially recognized world over for his contribution to the development of this model village and many other exemplary mass movements for public good across the nation.
Later RD Singh, Principal of the New Public School honoured Dr. Rajender S. Dahiya and Prof. Anil Sarwal for their participation in the programme.
