CHANDIGARH : The Meeting of the Executive of Punjab Unaided Technical Association (PUTIA) was held under the leadership of Dr. J.S. Dhaliwal, president, PUTIA. All the burning issues relating to Technical & Professional Education, Punjab were discussed in the meeting.
Chairmen from various colleges including Sh.Satnam Singh (CEC, Landran); Sh. Gurvinder Singh, (Rayat Group); S. PUTIA opposed the shifting of AICTE office to New Delhi from Chandigarh. It was decided that a representation through Hon’ble Chief Minister Punjab would be submitted to HRD Ministry, New Delhi. It is to be mentioned that Chandigarh AICTE Regional Office is presently rendering services to 8 states of North-West region and it is learnt from reliable sources that it is being shifted to Delhi
It was also demanded that separate Technical Education Policy of Punjab should be made on the pattern of industrial policy. Members decided to submit memorandum to Hon’ble Chief Minister Punjab regarding this in next week.
The problem relating to PTU Jallandhar, Directorate and Punjab State Board of Technical & Industrial Training Chandigarh were also discussed. Since 95% professional and technical education is being provided by the Private Trusts/Societies i.e. self financed un-audited institutions and their plight is that there is no increase in the fee structure of various courses for the last 10 years whereas price index has skyrocketed during this period.
