29 Sep : Accomplished vocalist and winner of Zee TV’s “Sa Re Ga Ma” Rinku Kalia weaved musical magic at the specially-designed “Tarana- an evening of ghazals and geets” organized by the S-4 Trust for the girl child. Lyrical gems from renowned shyars and poets flowed effortedly from the rich repertoire of the singer, who enthralled an appreciative audience for
almost three hours.Ghazals and geets penned by poets of such caliber as Qateel Shifai,Daag Dehlvi, Shakeel Badauni, Shiv Batalvi and Surjit Patar got full justice from Kalia’s well-honed voice. Even as the audience hungered for more, popular numbers such as “aaj janem ki zid na karo”, “ranjis he sahi “sune tha ke who”, “naine tose lage”, “shikra yaar”,formed the concluding part of the concert aimed at generating resources for the S-4 Trust engaged in the promotion of performing arts and uplift of the girl child. The talent hunt would culminate in the mega musical night at Chandigarh on every September 28, the birthday of legendary singer, informed Manmohan Garg, CEO of Gurukul Vidyapeeth.
