Panchkula, – The Drug Free Haryana Cyclothon started in line with Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal’s vision of making Haryana, a drug free State will enter Panchkula on September 23. This cyclothon has been given the theme of ‘Ek Cycle Yatra, Nasha Mukti Ke Naam’
Deputy Commissioner, Mr Sushil Sarwan said that all necessary arrangements have been made by the district administration to make this cyclothon a grand success. “This will be a successful event and the message of de-addiction will reach every person in the district”, he added.
He said that with an aim of making Haryana, a drug Free State, Drug Free Haryana campaign has been started in the State under Haryana Uday Outreach programme from September 1 to 25. As part of the campaign, Cyclothon and other activities are being organized in every district of the State to make people aware about the ill effects of drugs. The Drug Free Haryana Cyclothon was flagged off by Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal from Karnal on September 1 and after passing through various districts, it would reach Panchkula on September 23.
Mr Sarwan further said that a core group of about 250 cyclists after completing their journey in district Ambala would enter Bagwali village of Raipur Rani block of district Panchkula on September 23, where it would be given a rousing welcome. He said that the group of cyclists would reach Police Line, Moginand after passing through villages namely Mauli, Bataud, Barwala, Jalauli, Alipur and ITBP BTC Bhanu and Ramgarh. During its journey the Cylclothone would be joined by the local youth. A culture programme at Yavanika Open Air Theatre, Sector 5, in the evening would be the highlight of the event.
He said that on September 24, the Cyclothon would be flagged off from Tau Devi Lal Stadium, Sector 3 at 7 am . The Cyclothon after covering Sector-20, 12A, Bus Stand Chowk, Shalimar Mall, Bellavista Chowk, Majri Chowk, villages Ramgarh, Billa, Khedi and Pyarewala would enter district Yamunanagar on the same day.
The Deputy Commissioner Mr Sushil Sarwan has called upon the residents of Panchkula district, especially the youth, to participate in this Cyclothon in large numbers so that the message of drug-free Haryana reaches every home. He said that they should register themselves on the online portal uday. On the basis of registration, participants would get an e-certificate of the event, he added.
