Haryana, March 31- Former Haryana Chief Secretary, Mrs. Urvashi Gulati was administered the oath as Information Commissioner, by Governor, Haryana,Mr. Jagannath Pahadia in a simple and impressive ceremony held at Haryana Raj Bhavan here today. She took the oath in English language.
The 1975 Batch IAS Officer, Mrs. Gulati was posted as Chief Secretary, Haryana and attained superannuation today, before joining the new assignment. Born on March 23,1952 at Ambala, Mrs. Gulati graduated from Government College for Women, Chandigarh and did M.A. in Political Science from Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Having started her career as a Sub Divisional Officer at Palwal, she served the state in different capacities including Additional Deputy Commissioner, Gurgaon, Administrator HUDA, Faridabad and Gurgaon and Financial Commissioner, Revenue and Disaster Management, Development and Panchayats and Rural Development Departments. As Principal Secretary, Health and Medical Education, she attended Asia-Pacific workshop on Continuum of Care for Maternal and New Born Health at Bangkok. As Secretary to Government of Haryana, she has steered the Departments of Public Works (Building and Roads), Architecture, Irrigation, Cooperation and Industrial Training and Vocational Education. She was Chief Electoral Officer when General Elections to Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha were held in 2005.
She has the distinction of serving as Secretary to Governor Haryana for seven years. As Member Secretary of Kurukshetra Development Board, she was deeply involved with the development of Kurukshetra.
