Special focus on the establishment of "Energy Institute" in J&KJammu, October 21 : An Italian delegation representing Eni and Italian Embassy in New Delhi met Vice-Chancellor, Jammu University Prof. Amitabh Mattoo in his office chamber.
The delegation included Ugo Astuto, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Italy, New Delhi; Franco Conticini, GM Eni-India, Stefano Santi, Eni-India, Commercial, Negotiations & Governamental Affairs Manager; Dr. Jonathan Craig, Caryl Craig and Beth Geen-Craig. Besides, Dr. Bindra Thusu, Maghreb Petroleum Research Group at University College London, Prof. G. M. Bhat, Prof. M. A. Malik of The Department of Geology and Dr. Shakil Romshoo of the Department of Geology and Geophysics, University of Kashmir.
The delegation had one hour long meeting with the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Amitabh Mattoo and reviewed the progress about the on-going collaborative and Eni funded research projects on hydrocarbon prospecting in Jammu and Kashmir and Eni Children’s Education programme on "petroleum geoscience, energy efficiency and global climate change"
Dr. Jonathan Craig, Vice-President Geosciences studies and New Opportunities selection, Eni Milan was felicitated by the University of Jammu on Monday in appreciation of his contribution in promoting petroleum geosciences and Eni Children’s Education Programme on Energy Efficiency and Global Warming in India especially in Jammu and Kashmir as a part of the Jammu University outreach activity.
During the meeting special focus on the establishment of "Energy Institute" on the pattern of Energy and Geoscience Institute, University of Utah in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Vice-Chancellor Prof. Amitabh Mattoo offered all possible support by the Jammu University in this direction . "University of Jammu is honoured to be associated with Eni in the innovative programme of collaboration between industry and academia and between India and Italy, which reflects our shared vision of social and corporate responsibility towards humanity across the nations of the world," said Prof. Amitabh Mattoo.
It is worthwhile to mention here that the University of Jammu has already chalked out the plan of the proposed institute in co-operation with Eni Corporate University Milan, EGI, University of Utah and MPRG, University College London. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Amitabh Mattoo announced grant of Visiting Professorship of the University of Jammu to Dr. Jonathan Craig, Prof. Juergen Thurow, Department of Earth Sciences, University College London and Dr. Bindra Thusu, MPRG, University Colege London.
