Bhopal:Wednesday, June 30 : Joint programme of ‘School Chale Hum’ and ‘Haryali Mahotsava’ will be organised in the state in a grand scale from July 1 to 15, 2010. Field officers of the forest department have been directed to ensure public participation in ‘Haryali Mahotsava’. Joint Forest Management Committees, Eco Tourism Committees, office bearers of Minor Forest Produce Cooperative Societies, people’s representatives and school students along with common man will be associated with these joint programmes.
Field officers of the forest department have been directed that in coordination with the district collectors they should prepare draft plan of joint programmes in cooperation with local officers of school education department and panchayat and rural development department so that awareness among people are spread for planting of saplings.
The Principal Chief Conservator of Forests had recently held a review meeting about preparations of sapling of plants programme with regional officers through video conferencing. In view of the ‘Bamboo Year’ being celebrated this year the officers are taking special care in planting of saplings. The forest committees will also take active part in these programmes.
Around 7 crore 20 lakh saplings are available for planting during Haryali Mahotsava. Under this programme the forest department will plant around 4 crore 45 lakh saplings. This include 1 crore 17 lakh saplings to be planted by the committees. Apart from the above, there is a target to distribute 70 lakh saplings of bamboo among the public through the Research Development Units. Around 2 crore saplings of bamboo will be given to the panchayats. In this way a total 7 crore 15 lakh saplings are needed. Against this 7 crore 20 lakh saplings are available. Moreover, the Forest Development Corporation also has decided to plant 1 crore 75 lakh saplings.
The forest department has nominated saplings planting in-charge officers for each planting area. A programme has already been made to collect what number of plants from which nursery.
This year State Van Vikas Abhikaran (Forest Development Authority) has been constituted in the state with a view to get the works of Joint Forest Management Committees in a proper way. It has been decided to take up the work of planting of saplings under work plan by the District Forest Development Authorities.
