Bhopal:Wednesday, November 11 : In order to caution the Gram Sabha about the harmful impact of climate change on rural livelihoods, special working groups of Livelihoods Promoters would be formed in 3000 tribal villages. These working groups of Livelihoods Promoters would discuss in the Gram Sabha meetings how natural resources could be better managed to avert the adverse impact of climate change. A strategy was finalized at a Aajeevika Samagam a district level meet of Livelihoods Promoters organized at Jhabua recently.
Aalirajpur, Mandla, Dindori, Anuppur, Shahdol and Sheopur districts under Madhya Pradesh Rural Livelihoods Project (MPRLP). They have live contact with the rural masses. They deliver important information, encourage participation in Gram Sabha meeting, and facilitate the rural poor families to strengthen livelihoods.

Belwal has instructed the concerning project officers to chalk out a training and orientation plan for the Livelihoods Promoters. Jhabua meet of Livelihoods Promoters discussed about what is climate change, how green house gases work, what is global warming, why glaciers are melting and how natural resource based livelihoods is getting affected.
Gram sabha for sustainable livelihoods of the rural poor. The beneficiaries get financial assistance from Gram Kosh for livelihoods activities of their choice only after Gram Sabha’s clearance of their proposals. The Project has encouraged community based interventions of sustainable livelihoods like development of watersheds, plantations, installation of bio gas plants, organic farming that can keep away the harmful effect of climate change.
