28 August : Chief Minister of Nagaland Neiphiu Rio today, the 28th August 2008 graced the foundation laying service for Clark Centre for Leadership Development, to be constructed at a cost of 1.5 crores at Clark Theological College, Aolichen, Mokokchung as the Chief Guest.
While addressing the gathering, Neiphiu Rio lauded the services and sacrifices rendered by the institution for the past 36 years in bringing about positive changes in every aspect of life. He opined that we should be grateful to the American Missionaries for bringing the good gospel to us and leading us from darkness to light, adding that coming of Christianity to our land transformed us to what we are today, which is far more advanced than most tribals from mainland India.
Quoting from the Bible and making illustrations, Rio said that we Nagas should not be mere nominal Christians but should possess the values of good Christians, adding that only then, we can attain our aspirations. There is no place for violence in our society and in this aspect, theologians should take the initiatives to bring about unity and peace amongst us and lead our people in the right direction, he added.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Minister for PHED Dr. Ngangshi K. Ao, Chairman NHHDC Dr. Neikiesalie Nicky Kire, Parliamentary Secretary for Housing & Sericulture Er. T. Saku Aier, Chief Secretary, Lalhuma, Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung Bendangkokba, government officials, public leaders and CTC Faculty members.
