Delhi, April 30, 2012: Blood donation is the noblest gesture towards humanity. Let everyone make it an aim of his or her life to serve humanity. Blood donation movement of the Sant Nirankari Mission is a glaring example where thousands of people come forward to participate. In case some donor is rejected on one ground or the other, he or she feels disappointed.
This was stated by Rev. Mohinder Singh Ji Parmukh Chandigarh Branch that His Holiness Baba Hardev Singh Ji Maharaj, Head of the Sant Nirankari Mission while inaugurating 24th April a countrywide series of over 400 blood donation camps to be organized by the Sant Nirankari Mission during the ensuing 12 months. The series began with 71 camps held across the country in one day, today. In Delhi, more than 1750 devotees donated their blood.
Baba Ji said that the Mission observes April 24 as Manav Ekta Diwas to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji and also to remember hundreds of other devotees who laid down their lives for the noble cause of truth, love, peace and unity. Even though the Mission started holding blood donation camps in 1986, the same have been associated with Manav Ekta Diwas since 1987. Initially these camps were held only on April 24 but subsequently, on persuasion by authorities, the same were staggered to cover the summer months when blood banks in the country generally face an acute shortage of blood.
The Health Minister of Delhi, Dr.A.K.Walia also accompanied His Holiness during the inauguration of the Camp. He also appreciated the noble effort being made by the Sant Nirankari Mission in this very important field. He said that there are patients who have no relatives and then blood is also needed in emergencies. The blood donated by the volunteer organizations proves quite useful in such cases. The Hon’ble Minister said that the quality of
blood donated by the devotees of the Mission is generally of very good quality. He also appreciated the Mission’s contribution in other fields of health, education and social welfare.
Organized under the auspices of Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation, the Camp in Delhi was held in most hygienic conditions with due emphasis on the pre-donation tests and post-donation care. Donors were served snacks etc. on behalf of the Foundation.
The blood-collecting teams came from DD Upadhyay Hospital, Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital, Bara Hindu Rao Hosiptal, Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, LNGP Hospital, AIIMS, Dr. Hedgewar Hospital, Armed Forces Transfusion Centre, G.B. Pant Hospital, Ram Manohar Lohiya Hospital and Safdarjung Hospital.
Today, besides Delhi, 10 Blood Donations Camps were organized in Uttar Pradesh; 9 in Maharashtra; 5 each in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat; 4 each in Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab; 3 each in West Bengal and Jharkhand; 2 each in Jammu and Kashmir, Bihar and Uttarakhand; and one each in Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, Andaman and Nicobar, Assam and Tripura.
The volunteers of the Sant Nirankari Seva Dal and other devotees of the Mission took out two rallies to create a sense of awareness towards the noble cause of blood donation. One of these rallies started from Tagore Park and the other from Adarsh Nagar. The two merged at Dhaka Chowk and finally concluded at the venue of the Blood Donation Camp, where His Holiness blessed the participants while Dr.Walia also accompanied. About 200 volunteers participated in the rallies on motorcycles and other vehicles. Their slogans included : ‘spare few minutes to save a life’, ‘share life, gift blood’, ‘roll up your sleeve to save life’, ‘give blood, stay healthy’ and the like.
Khane Ko Khurak Nahi Par Logo Ka Khoon Neekal Lo Yeh Achhachhi Baaat Nahi
Yeh Apne Aap Mein Ek Paap Hai
Pehele Logo Kee Khurak Ka Parbandh Karo Phir Khoon Neekal Lo Tab Koi Baat Nahi—dr.amritgaur
