By- Mashal Arora , 10+1, DAV Model School, Sector 15,Chandigarh : Man does not prefer to live or work in isolation. He is impelled to share his ideas and urges, purposes and proposals with his peers to confirm the correctness or otherwise of his beliefs, doubts, contradictions and creativity. It is only in a group that we gauge how proficient, efficient, and competitive we are in comparison to others and to what extent do we need to grow to match them or outwit them. Adept group provides one an opportunity to interact with others. While interacting, we discuss, debate, react, rebut, argue, give or take, persuade and convince. Naturally, we not only add to the knowledge of others but also are equally rewarded in turn when the other fellow carries us along with him by his erudition and learning.
While spearheading the discussion, we automatically take up the job and responsibility of a leader or a manager. We are guided by a sense of initiative and desire. Besides, being a chattering talker, we learn how to be a patient listener. Instead of persisting in our version with arrogance, we tend to be flexible enough to mend our wrong notions when pointed out to be so by our co-workers or co-members of the group. We understand the meaning, necessity and importance of co-operation only when we have a common task to perform.
To be humble is necessary while participating in a group discussion. While putting forth our viewpoint, we have to be firm with all politeness at our disposal without being emotional. Participating in a group is an enriching and thrilling experience. So, for all those who think too many cooks spoil the broth, I would staunchly say that working in a group does not eclipse our individuality. Rather, it adds to the ocean of our creative ideas. Keeping in view all the above virtues, it instills in us I think that each and every work should be done in a group in our professional life. We should rise above the thoughts such as taking the credit alone and try to share our intellect with all, as the latter proves to be a zillion times more fruitful. It will surely help us to grow.
You are right “Man does not prefer to live or work in isolation” and best way to develop is to liove in groups but we should be carefull to choose a group. As agood group can make once life and in other hand a bad group can spoil once life.
